How We Started
Born From a Promise
Patriots Haven was founded in 2012 by retired Army Sergeant Major David Reyes after he witnessed a fellow veteran — a decorated combat medic — living under a bridge in their hometown. That moment became a turning point.
What began as a single rented house and a handful of volunteers has grown into a multi-city organization serving over 1,200 veterans across 8 communities. Every program we run traces back to that original promise: no one who served this country should be left without a home.
Today, Patriots Haven operates transitional housing, permanent supportive housing, and wraparound services — all designed by veterans, for veterans.

Every veteran deserves to be treated with the respect their service earned. We never reduce a person to their circumstances.

Our staff, board, and volunteers are predominantly veterans and military families who understand the journey firsthand.
